Having drafted literally hundreds of business plans, prospectuses, letters, and memos in my 25-plus-year career as an investment banker, hedge fund manager, and bank consultant, I've had my fair share of experience in the finance sector. In the 1990s, I retired from the investment banking company I founded in 1985, Capital Resources, Inc., to pursue the next chapter of my life—being a competitive equestrian.
I enhanced my competitive equestrian skills using yoga to aid my balance and build core strength. Little did I realize that my yoga practice would lead to another chapter of my life--becoming a yoga teacher with an active following.
When COVID-19 stopped the world, the time that I never seemed to have suddenly was upon me. Now I could finally write the story I had wanted to write for over 25 years. The true story of magical love and devotion against all odds. It is the story of my American father and Japanese mother meeting in post-WWII Japan, falling in love, then being torn apart for over two years. During their separation, their only means of communication was pen and paper through overseas snail mail. The most remarkable aspect of this story is that they did not speak each other’s language and relied on translators to keep their love alive.
You know how the story ends because I am here. Born in Izmir, Turkey in the US military hospital, I traveled the world for the first five years of my life until our family settled in Laurel, Maryland. My parents lived happily ever after.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in business from the University of Central Florida and a Master's degree in Finance from American University in Washington, DC. I live with my husband, a dog, a cat, and several horses on a horse and cattle farm in Virginia.
